Star Wars: Flying Casual
Leader of the First Sun Mobile Regiment
Ardeth Misk has been called a Rebel hero, a mass murderer, and nearly everything in between. One word that has never been used to describe him, however, is “ordinary.”
As a scion of the Republic’s elite Old Families, Misk had an easy road ahead of him: inherit his parents’ vast fortune and live a life of fame and power. Yet following in the footsteps of his father, Angus, a Republic senator on Coruscant, wasn’t for Ardeth. Even from a young age, he was determined to make his own way in the galaxy.
Much to the chagrin of his parents, Misk’s ambitions led him to join the Grand Army of the Republic. There he hoped to learn the finer points of prospecting, a profession that had intrigued him for some time. As tensions between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems rose, Mengsk found himself embroiled in the brutal Clone Wars. He became known for his brilliant tactics and innate leadership skills, but a life in the military was never his goal. Before the Clone Wars ended, Misk left the army and began his prospecting career on the fringe worlds.
After Misk hit pay dirt as a prospector, his world turned upside down. Chancellor Palpatine proclaimed himself Emperor of the galaxy and reorganized the Galactic Republic into “the first Galactic Empire.” Among the many Republic senators to have been killed, imprisoned or exiled, Misk’s entire family was assassinated. While Misk had never agreed with his father’s fiery anti-Imperial rhetoric in the past, his family’s deaths filled him with an unwavering desire for vengeance.
As Misk waged a crippling guerilla war against the Empire, his enemies responded by bombarding his home planet with one thousand Destroyer-class torpedoes. The attack annihilated all life on the planet. Misk, who had been off world at the time, renamed his revolutionaries the First Sun in honor of those who had died, and he continued his uprising with increasingly ruthless tactics.
